Hunger strike being undertaken by activist.

Fathers’ Coalition campaigner Benjamin Easton is taking a one week food (not including fluids) strike as an initial protest against Inland Revenue’s practice of applying a formula when removing child support from new beneficiaries.

“When someone is applying for the unemployment benefit it is blatantly obvious that they do not have any money” he says. “To apply an impossible demand in child support because of previous debt or earnings, before first recognising the person’s hardship is unnecessarily vindictive and cruel” he adds.

The campaigner will attend next weeks parliament sessions were he hopes his presence in the gallery will pressure politicians to consider the truth when debating the Social Securities Amendment Bill which is presently before the House. His food strike will end on Thursday 15th at 5pm.
