How many children have been removed from mothers who are suffering from depression, alcohol abuse etc following an abortion? Are CYFS social workers trained to look below the surface problems to consider possible causes for child abuse. Such as abortion . . . or is that can of worms too ugly to contemplate . . . because it doesn’t fit the feminist/socialist family destroying agenda? Is there any real help for women who suffer mental health problems following abortion?

CHILD NEGLECT OR ABUSE: “Abortion is linked with increased depression, violent behavior, alcohol and drug abuse, replacement pregnancies, and reduced maternal bonding with children born subsequently. These factors are closely associated with child abuse and would appear to confirm individual clinical assessments linking post-abortion trauma with subsequent child abuse.

[Benedict, et al., “Maternal Perinatal Risk Factors and Child Abuse,” Child Abuse and Neglect, 9:217-224 (1985); P.G. Ney, “Relationship between Abortion and Child Abuse,” Canadian Journal of Psychiatry, 24:610-620, 1979; Reardon, Aborted Women – Silent No More (Chicago: Loyola University Press, 1987), 129-30, describes a case of woman who beat her three year old son to death shortly after an abortion which triggered a “psychotic episode” of grief, guilt, and misplaced anger. ]

“A Christchurch study reported last year that abortion, which is justified in many cases on the ground that it is necessary to protect the mother’s mental health, may in fact cause serious adverse mental health problems for women who undergo it.
In 2005, the most recent year for which figures are available, 17,531 abortions were performed in New Zealand . . . 98.5 percent of these were justified on the ground that there was serious danger to the mother’s mental health.”

“the actual data suggests that abortion is far more likely to drive an unstable woman to suicide than is pregnancy and childbirth. “
