Minister urged to implement CYF complaints authority

A lobby group promoting family values and safe communities hopes the Government will go through with promises to establish an independent complaints authority to deal with issues related to Child Youth and Family.

CYF workers have been the target of vociferous criticism over recent months on an internet blog site.

Director of Family First Bob McCoskrie says a complaints authority could go some way to restoring confidence in the troubled service, but he says it remains to be seen whether the Government follows through on the promise.

Associate Minister for Social Development and Employment Ruth Dyson has revealed the process is underway but bloggers on the site say the idea has been talked about for years and action, not words, are needed.
